1.18 firmware problem
hi everyone,
sry, couldn't find a proper thread abt this... i have iaudio 16GB. after installing the new 1.18 firmware browsing menus while listening to music has become a pain in the neck. the player is unresponsive. it wasn't like this earlier. i'm experiencing sound errors too. to give you an idea what they are just recall the good old times when your casette walkman happened to be low on battery - the sound error is almost the same only shorter, it is as if the music was slowing down apart from these everything seems to be ok. hopefully cowon support fixes this soon. Re: 1.18 firmware problem
No problem here, either.
While my personal player is the S9, my wife's is the iA7 and I've upgraded it to 1.18 a month or so ago. This particular update has been out for about 10 months now, and I think the lack of response in this thread might be due to the rarety of a problem with it. As the OP has wondered, reformatting the media might be a good idea at this point. I wonder if it's possible that the player was often unplugged from the USB port of the computer without using the "Safely Remove Hardware" feature. Not doing so "could" sometimes result in corrupted media. Whatever the case, if it were my player at this point, I would just back up the entire player, reformat the media, then restore the backup, then reinstall the 1.18 update. That pretty much would be everything a person could do, so if that didn't solve the problem, it would be time for a trip back to Cowon for service. |

Re: 1.18 firmware problem
I've had major problems upgrading to 1.18. After reformatting (as FAT16 if I remember correctly) I successfully managed to upgrade. I've not yet tested if the player works as expected. I'll try to remember to report after I've tried.

I've been having the same problem.
Without warning the touchscreen and buttons stop working. The only way to get them to work is to turn the player on/off. I've reformatted the harddrive and reloaded the firmware and adjusted the sensitivity but to no avail. I thought it might be because I've used both Windows & Apple to add/delete music from the player, because one time when I used Apple to try to add/delete songs that'd been added via Windows, the player always read that it was full. But maybe that isn't it. So, along with everyone else, anyone with any ideas? Thanks. |
