Cowon D2 locks up
I own the Cowon D2 for 3 months now. I have been using a 2GB SD and 8GB SDHC card - both worked fine till yesterday. Now my Cowon D2 locks up as I navigate down the directories on either SD memory cards. I've formatted the 2GB SD card a couple of times already.
I would like to post this problem to see if any other uses have seen this problem. Thanks, Chun |

Re: Cowon D2 locks up
Same Here.
I have cowon d2 16gb dab. It worked ok with memory cards then would start to freeze on photo folders on sd card, some would open but others would freeze the player. Now it does not integrate tunes from sd card and freezes when I try to select a folder from sd card in folder view. This is the same on 1gb, 2gb, 8gb, and 16gb cards. None will work, they did before tho! how is this possible. I have the current up to date firmware and have not changed a thing since these cards worked fine! They are detected and viewable / editable in explorer. Anyone got the answer as I bought this player because it took these cards... It seems not thought, very annoying and I will send it back if no-one can explain how to permanentley fix this issue! |

Re: Cowon D2 locks up
I had the same problem - SDHC cards that worked fine suddenly stopped. They would apparently integrate when turned on but when looking for the songs thru the player, they did not exist. If I tried to access thru the folder view I could go to the album but when I tried to go to the songs, the player just locked up. Restarting or resetting had no impact. The same with returning to factory defaults. I tried reformatting the cards (which worked fine in everything but the D2) was also fruitless.
Only by reinstalling the firmware did I have success, which also required the restoration of the data files. I'll wait to see if this a long term solution or if it needs to be done regularly. |

Re: Cowon D2 locks up
Purchased M3 in 2004 because of reviews and did not want to be tied to iTunes. The play back on that player had me, I was amazed that audiophile like sound could be produced from something so small. Then the built in extras that were options with iPod, mic, radio, in-line recording, and playback formats- MP3, carpet shampoo WMA, ASF, OGG, and WAV.I have been buying Cowen products since with the same results more bang for your money and that unmatched sound quality. I only had one Cowon product not live up to expectations, iAudio 6, due to mini HD not good. i6 replaced by i7 using flash now very good.D2 easy to use software easy to convert video to format to play in player. Just place persian rugs in DVD and let software do the rest. Now the Q5W is different just up load movie of many different formats and go. This is a fine machine.BTW, all of the players had been purchased for teen girls and they have used and seen many others. They like the iPod touch GUI better, however, they will not take a iPod over braided rug Cowon. Purchased a creative zen micro to replace the i6, mini HD kept locking up, and then ended up replacing that with the D2 all within a year. The creative did not give the sound quality and it had to be returned for repairs several times.I have purchased the following Cowon players M3, U2, i6, D2, i7, and Q5W to replace, still in use, M3. Q5W user getting a D2 to carry around when the Q5W is just a bit much to carry.
